memorial from santa cruz to san jose's downtown hp pavillion. now, deputy police chief steve clark says the change was necessary because of overwhelming interest by law enforcement agencies and the community. that interest was reflected today, when police officers returned to the streets. santa cruz county sheriffs deputies honored returning police patrols today. the sheriff's department and chp took over city duties, while the 94 santa cruz officers grieved for investigators, loran butch baker and elizabeth butler, killed tuesday in the line of duty. >> it's tough. the first time you jump into that patrol car or walk through investigations, you know, you go past the cubicles and the offices, i think that's tough. >> reporter: many people told us officers may see a changed community. >> people are going to be more likely to speak up and, you know, call the police when they see something that isn't right. >> reporter: but some point out this is the first time officers have ever been killed in their city. >> there's also a feeling of fear, because now it's happened. we know how it feels.

was in the suspect's car. now, in the last hour, we've determined that car is registered to a man from san jose. we still don't know whether this victim and the suspect knew each other or what led deputies to shoot and kill the suspect, just moments after they rescued the woman about 20 miles from here in geronville. this was our first look at the suspect's toyota, windows blown out as a tow truck hauled it away this afternoon. a wild chase and deadly confrontation with deputies ended in this wooded area of geronville off highway 116 after 11:00 last night. >> i suspect that he knew where he was going and was trying to evade the police. >> reporter: bob reeves owns the house nearby, but didn't know what happened until this morning. last night, investigators say a woman sent a text message to a friend in san rafael that she had been kidnapped. >> that she was concerned for her safety and being driven to sonoma county against her will. >> reporter: more text messages helped deputies spot the suspect's car on geronville road in santa rosa, setting off a high speed chase through winding roads. it ended

the warriors but consents to oakland and san jose and when paf rete and streisand and this is the problem and if we had an arena decent for presentation san francisco would be the first site but that doesn't mean this has to be the only site in san francisco but it's the best site because it satisfies so many things being so close to accessibility from cal train, from bart, from muni, from a lot of different public transportation and also very walkable. it also impresses me after giant games the number of people on the street walking up to market street or into the heart of san francisco and everyone had horror stories about how bad it would be and i don't think i ever had a problem coming or going to a giant games whether i walked or drive or public transportation. i usually don't drive and if i do i park a wayings away and i think this makes sense. somebody brought up the question about maritime uses and as was pointed out in the presentation there is the idea of kayak access and some ferry terminal or some terminal is planned as part of the project. fishing will be available. there
